We purchased our home in Bedford in September. It was built in 1974 and the American Standard boiler is original to the house and needs to be replaced. We are having issues with the household hot water (provided by the boiler) and the service tech who did the annual service was unable to sort it out. I would like to schedule a time to have someone come out and give me an estimate of what it would cost to replace the heating system. Thank you,

Heating System Repair
There are generally two causes when you have a need for heating repairs of your system -- incorrect installation and negligent maintenance. Heating installation, if done by an under qualified or inexperienced technician or handyman, can mean more expenses down the road for heavy duty repairs of your system. Besides, you can avoid the need for heating repairs by making sure that your heating system is serviced regularly. For instance, gas furnaces will need a tune up at least one every three years, although an oiled furnace will need a check up more often because of the amount of dirt and grease that can accumulate. Make sure you clean the filers of your furnace regularly, and replace if necessary. Your gas furnace can develop problems, including cracks in the flue that can lead to leakages that pose the risk of explosions etc. Furnace maintenance can prevent the need for expensive furnace repairs and replacement further down the line.
Heat pump systems can frequently show heating repair problems due to faulty installation. For instance, refrigerant that's incorrectly charged during installation causes the system to work overtime. A heating repair service can increase or decrease the amount of refrigerant as needed. Boilers are an affordable way to heat your home, but you may need to replace boiler tubes, repair or replace fittings, and boiler mountings, repair oil and gas burners, repair calorifiers, coded welding, combustion analysis testing and other kinds of boiler repairs. A regular program of boiler maintenance can prevent the need for boiler repairs and replacement.
